You just started playing Entropia Universe. You made it through the tutorial. You’ve done a little hunting and now you need ammo. You ask around and everyone says you need PED. Everyone says you need to go Sweat. This can all be a little confusing. Especially to a new player. Let’s take a look at sweating and why people use it to earn PED.
What is Sweating?
Sweating is the process of extracting Vibrant Sweat from creatures. This can be done by yourself or with a group of people. Be warned it can be pretty boring. That’s why a lot of people don’t like doing it. But everything has a purpose and sweating has several.
How Do I Gather Sweat?
When you first start you are given a VSE Mk 1. This is the tool that extracts sweat from creatures. Simply open your inventory by pressing I. Go to tools, it has a little wrench icon. Right click on your VSE Mk 1 and hit equip. Now that the tool is equipped you need to stand close to a creature. Hit E for a single attempt at gathering sweat or use F (interact) which will repeatedly try and extract sweat.
How Do I Know If I got Sweat?
If you are able to successfully sweat the creature one of two things will happen. You may have a loot window pop up and a bottle of vibrant sweat will appear. If the loot window is disabled you will see a notification. The upper left side of the screen will say “Vibrant Sweat 0.00 PED”.
You can also open your inventory using I. Go to the materials tab. You should see a bottle of vibrant sweat. You can look here to see how much vibrant sweat you have collected total. Vibrant sweat is stackable so you can merge several small stacks. You can also take a big stack and make smaller stacks.
How Does Sweating Earn Me Ped?
Sweating doesn’t earn PED. Selling your vibrant sweat earns PED. This is why new players are told they need to sweat. Vibrant sweat is used in various blueprints for crafting. It’s also used to make Mind Essence. This is what creates the demand for Vibrant sweat.
Players who deposit or who would rather not gather sweat buy it from players who do. The problem is that the supply far outweighs the demand. This means that sweat prices are extremely low. When I started playing in May 2018 the market rate was 1.25 PED per 1,000 bottles of Vibrant Sweat. A year later the market price has dropped to about 1 PED per 1,000 bottles. It takes about 2 hours to collect 1k sweat so you are sweating for about 5 cents an hour.
Why Should I Sweat?
There are easier ways to earn PED than sweating. A great example would be using earnPED but of course we’re going to recommend that. There are some great reasons that you should sweat. If you earn a few extra PED in the process that’s great! But it shouldn’t be your goal.
Sweating increases several skills. If a creature hits you while you sweat it can increase your defense skills. If you join a sweat circle you can meet some new players. I’ve spent hours in sweat circles just for the conversation. It can also give you time to advertise your goods for sell in trade channels while being productive.
Sweating Isn’t For Everyone
Sweating takes a lot of time and has very little reward. There are easier ways to earn PED. But there are some benefits to it as well. You can gain some skills and make some friends. It may even be a little relaxing now and then. The best advice I can give you is to not overdo it. Sweating will never make you rich. It will barely extend your bankroll. Overdoing it could even lead to burn out. Find a balance. When it stops being enjoyable; stop doing it.
