Melee In Entropia Universe Is Cheaper Than You Think

Melee Weapons In Entropia Universe

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 03:53 pm

Why does melee seem so expensive in Entropia Universe? We all had that moment when we first started playing. You run out of ammo. Then your gun breaks. You decide that using ranged weapons is expensive. The logical thing seems to be to use melee weapons. But you soon realize that they decay so fast melee is even more expensive! Such is the first few days playing EU. But why does melee seem so expensive? And is it as expensive as it seems?

The truth is melee is actually CHEAPER than using ranged weapons. But you have to do things right. You also have to spend some time and PED to get there. Let’s take a look at why melee seems so expensive. Then we can look at ways to make melee work for us.

Melee Decay; The Game Killer

The largest reason melee seems so expensive is the decay on your weapons. When you first start you need melee weapons from the trade terminal. You have the choice of a knife, sword or a set of brass-knuckles. The weapons function much like you would expect. Equip the weapon, hit the target, end of story. And the best part (new players think) is no ammo burn! We quickly realize that no ammo burn is actually a bad thing.

Melee weapons that don’t burn ammo decay FAST. The increased decay rate is because of the fact that they don’t use ammo. When you use a ranged weapon you incur the expense of both ammo AND decay. Melee weapons without an associated ammo cost have increased decay. This is why we usually view them as “more expensive”. We get less use out of them. They need to be replaced or repaired more often. Psychologically it LOOKS like we’re spending more money.

Melee Weapons In Entropia Universe
Melee Weapons In Entropia Universe

Ying & Yang

The truth is there is likely not much difference in expense. A while back MindArk added an ammo cost to a lot of melee weapons. Once you get past the trade terminal you have more choices. The first weapon you will move onto is likely the ArMatrix LB-10 (L) or SB-10 (L). Both of these weapons require ammo burn every time you use the weapon. The LB-10 998 and 491 ammo for the SB-10.

ArMatrix LB-10(L)
ArMatrix LB-10(L)

It seems stupid for a melee weapon to have ammo burn. Your sword doesn’t start shooting bullets after all. But the reason for the ammo burn makes sense. Once ammo burn was put into melee weapons the weapon decay decreased. The result was decay that is more on par with what we are used to. The cost is the same because there is ammo burn. It just feel like a lot less because the weapon lasts longer.

When we think about this in reverse we see it’s all in our head. The higher decay from melee weapons that don’t use ammo is almost the same as a weapon that does use ammo + decay. We get used to how long ranged weapons last. Then we expect this from melee weapons. When they don’t last as long we associate it with higher cost.

Horrible Loot Returns

Another reason we associate melee weapons with higher expense is loot returns. We go out and burn a few swords. It seems like out loot just SUCKS. But again we have to realize the problem is with our logic. It’s just another psychological trap we fall into. When we use ranged weapons we are used to slaughtering mobs. Sometimes we tag with a rifle and finish with a pistol. Other times we run into a group of mobs and blast them.

With melee weapons we have to be close to attack. This means less time dealing damage and more time running. It may also take you significantly longer to kill each mob. When we mix this with the (perceived) added cost of melee we have shorter hunts. We get bored, we switch to ranged weapons or we log off.

It’s well known that you want a hunt of 500-100 mobs bare minimum. This gives you the best chance at a glocal / HOF. It may not get you to TT+ returns but it takes out some of the variance. The reason you have horrible melee returns is the length of hunt. You’re simply not killing enough mobs. Don’t believe me? Count them.

Efficiency Is Still King

The exception to this is if you have crap efficiency. With loot 2.0 efficiency is king. There are plenty of melee weapons that have HORRIBLE efficiency. If you decide these are the weapons for you I can’t help you. I have the old school UL TT set. But I don’t use it (often anyway) because of the horrible efficiency.

Since TT weapons have no MU there’s no reason to use lower efficiency weapons. As with ranged weapons be sure and add an appropriate amp. It will increase your decay cost (cost of amp). But it will also increase your DPS and efficiency. The higher the efficiency the better. If you have the right weapon and the right amp your efficiency should be decent. With appropriate hunt lengths and the correct mobs your returns should be fine.

Extenders And Melee Cost

Another reason melee can seem incredibly expensive is extenders. We are used to putting extenders onto our ranged weapons. After all, if we can make the weapon last longer we save paying MU. But remember that extenders absorb the weapons decay. Again with ranged weapons we have an ammo cost and a decay cost. The extender is absorbing part of that decay only.

If we use an extender on a melee weapon that has ammo burn we get about the same result. But if we use an extender on a melee weapon without ammo burn we have an issue. The only cost of using the weapon is decay. Adding an extender will help the weapon last longer. But it seems the extender burns faster. This is again due to the fact that we ONLY have decay cost.

Doing Melee Right

If this is your first day playing Entropia Universe stay away from melee. Learn the game, make some friends and earn some PED. Once you have a love for the game doing melee right can be fun. And profitable. If you have been playing with ranged weapons you have plenty of Anatomy skills. Anatomy makes up approximately 20% of the DAMAGE professions for melee. That means that you will be able to do close to the full damage intervals. However your hit skills will likely lag behind. This is because the Shortblades, Longblades etc. skills contribute the most to your HIT abilities.

STEP 1: TT Hell

You’re going back to your first day in EU. Go to the trade terminal and stock up on knives, swords and brass knuckles. Burn through them on your favorite lower level mobs until your HIT abilities grow. Once you have 10.0/10.0 Hit and Critical Hit abilities on the weapon you want to move onto; move on.

Step 2: Melee With Ammo Burn

Now that your DAMAGE and HIT professions are both on par we can get a new weapon. Most of us will use the ArMatrix SB-10 (L) or the ArMatrix LB-10 (L). Both of these weapons have ammo burn. This means the decay will be closer to what we are used to. From here on out the journey is similar to ranged weapons. Climb the ladder, move on to a new weapon when appropriate. Extenders are your friend.

Step 3: Look For The Cracks

Melee can actually be CHEAPER than ranged weapons. Why? They just aren’t as popular. This means they are harder to sell. You can often find Limited Melee weapons on auction at lower mark ups than their ranged counterparts. Paired with extenders this can be one of the cheapest ways to hunt in EU.

But there are other cracks you will have to find. I have already mentioned they MAY be easy to tier. Below is a video covering a lot of this information. In the video I say there may be good times to use economy enhancers. But did you know there are other ways to make using melee weapons even cheaper?

I still play Entropia Universe everyday. And I still make a profit playing. So obviously I can’t give away ALL of my secrets (though I tend to) but let’s suffice to say there are way’s to Make melee even cheaper (re-read that last sentence a few times). This means that for an experienced player melee can be a HUGE advantage.

Other Benefits To Melee

Melee has two distinct benefits. The first is that it is one of the only ways to easily increase Strength. Strength is an attribute; not a skill. The more you grow your Strength the more you can carry. This comes in handy once you start mining but can also help when hunting. Fewer trips to storage just makes the game more fun.

More importantly melee contributes to HP growth. There are 15 skills related to the melee HIT professions. Thirteen of those skills contribute to HP! As you grow your melee abilities your HP will also grow. And since you are doing close combat you will get hit by mobs more often. This means that you will gain my favorite skills; DEFENSE! (increased armor decay and more faping are also reasons melee seems more expensive)

Don’t take my word for it. Look to arguably the player with more experience than anyone: Messi. A few weeks ago I saw a recent pic of his skills. He had just crossed 500 HP. His Knife Fighter profession was over level 200! A few days later I got lucky and caught him hanging out in rookie chat. He happened to mention that he is currently using the Unique Sacrificial Dagger almost exclusively. Considering it has a mind blowing 94% efficiency I think it would be my go-to weapon also.

Melee For The Rest Of Us

In closing let me reiterate I think new players should stay away from melee. But if you’ve played for a while maybe it’s time to look at giving melee a shot. If you can get past those TT weapons needed to get your HIT abilities up you’re golden. We now have melee weapons with ammo cost bringing decay in line with what we expect. Chose the right weapon, amp, mob and hunt length for amazing results. You may even end up saving some PED! Even if there was a few PEC difference it’s worth it for the HP and Strength.

I’ve included a video below covering much of this material. As always feel free to reach out to me in game. If I’m not competing in Mayhem I’m always happy to chat. DPS Service: Earning PED Hunting For Hire

DPS Service

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 03:53 pm

Earning PED in Entropia Universe with a DPS service can be profitable. It’s also one of the player run services that requires skill. I wanted to take a moment to look at this particular earning method. It’s something you don’t see everyday and something few players know about. Maybe it’s a service you want or maybe even one you need! Demand for DPS services is set to skyrocket soon so let’s take a look at what it is and how it works!

What Is DPS Servcie?

DPS service stands for Damage Per Second. It’s a hunting service. And this is the reason not just any EU player can offer it. I recently spoke to Green Toker 1987. He’s an earnPED member who offers a well known DPS service. I wanted to find out more about exactly what it is he does and why. Much of the information from this article came directly from Toker’s experience running a DPS service.

DPS Service
DPS Service

One of the most common reasons people will hire for a DPS service is event related. A lot of times Toker gets hired because there is a specific mob that needs to be killed. This can be done in a team setting or solo. Often people will request a team setting when a mob has a high regeneration rate. They may also request team setting when they need both damage dealt and may need healing while hunting.

In this case Toker is acting as both a hunter for hire and a healer for hire. Since he also does healing for hire he has the right equipment for both. This is also beneficial when he solo hunts. Should he start to take damage he has the appropriate FAP to survive the encounter.

Solo DPS Services

So why would someone hire Green Toker 1987 for solo DPS services? After all hunting is half the fun! Well there are special circumstances when it makes sense. Sometimes event mobs drop rare items. Other times there are event items that can be looted faster by two players rather than one. In these instances it makes sense to hire another experienced hunter. Maybe you want to farm event tokens. You may be trying to loot a rare event item. Having two people in the field hunting stacks the odds in your favor.

Another important reason would be if you can’t hunt. Sometimes event mobs are simply too tough for you to take on alone. Other times you may have to watch your skill levels to avoid causing problems with competitions you’re in. I often times have to scale back my hunting to be sure I can compete in the next Mayhem event. These are all great examples of when a DPS service can come in handy.

What To Look For In A DPS Service

If you are considering hiring a hunter for DPS service be sure and look for a few things. The first thing you want to look at is their defense skills. Many of you know I am big on defense and regularly farm evade skills at Zychion Citadel. Second you want to look at the weapon they are using. You want to be sure it delivers the amount of damage per second you are looking for. Also be sure to consider the weapons efficiency and decay rate.

Lastly a good DPS service provider will also consider using amps, sights and scopes. Amps will add to the damage per second they can deliver. Scopes and Sights will add to the cost to kill. It will increase the decay and therefore increase the cost of the service but that may be beneficial.

This is because it’s believed that HOF’s and ATH’s are tied to cost-to-kill. Current theory holds that the max multiplier you can hit is the cost of action x 10,000. This is what results in All Time Highs. By adding Scopes and Sights the increased decay increases the cost to kill and therefore the potential payout. Especially important during some events.

Other DPS Gear

In addition to looking at the weapon set up look at their other gear. Do they have increased reload speed using an Ares Ring Improved or an Ares Ring Modified? Can they use a Summer Ring 2017 to improve their defense stats? You will also want to find out what type or armor they will be using and which Enhancers if any.

You really want to look at the entire hunting set up. Make sure they have everything exactly how you want it. If you are not happy with the equipment they are planning to use see if there’s a way you can help. Remember that you want to find a hunter who properly meets your needs. This will usually mean having the right skills as well as the right equipment.

Pills And Add Ons

Don’t be afraid to ask about add on services. Some hunters for hire will have special pills they can take like Modified Neurostim. These pills can further increase their reload speed and damage per second. Other pills will help save time by auto-looting creatures killed. Some hunters offering DPS services will have additional capabilities through pills that you can add for a small additional fee.

Some hunters will prefer to supply their own pills, enhancers and other consumables for a mark up. Others will prefer that you provide them for use during the hunt. Be sure and negotiate the deal that works for you financially and meets your needs in game.

Paying For DPS Services

As with all things in EU paying a hunter for hire for DPS services is negotiable. Some hunters for hire are happy having their decay covered and possibly getting a tip. You will expected to supply the shrapnel they need for the hunt. Others may require a flat fee per hour but this is rare. Usually the best hunters with the best gear can demand the best rates.

Other common negotiation points are loot split and reporting. One of the reasons for having your DPS service provider in a team is to track loot. This keeps the hunter from keeping part of the loot and not telling you. Keep in mind that a lot of hunters also stream. Especially the higher level hunters.

You may be able to watch your hunter live on streaming services like Twitch. This makes the experience more enjoyable while keeping everyone honest. Whatever you negotiate remember that it has to work for both you and the service provider. If you have someone willing to work for decay please remember to tip. Even if they come back with a net loss they took time out of their day to work for you. You can generate a lot of good will, and future service discounts, with even small tips.

Starting Your Own DPS Service

There are several earnPED members who already provide these services. Members include: Green Toker 1987, Sarah SaraWatson Watson and Steve StevieB Braggs. You may be able to offer these services by utilizing our Ninja Rental Program to rent the gear you would need.

Output Amplifier Components

Output Amplifier Component

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 04:01 pm

Output Amplifier Components are one of the many hunting resources you will find. There are many different types of components in Entropia Universe. Since this is one of the more useful ones let’s take a look at this unique component. Later on we will see how they can help us earn PED!

Output Amplifier Component Basic Stats

Output Amplifier Components weigh 0.01 Kg. They have a TT value of 40 PEC each. This is a stackable resource which helps with storage management. You should note that this item can be looted in PvP lootable zones. You must loot these from hunting. They are not available from any other method.

Output Amplifier Component
Output Amplifier Component

Rarity

Part of the reason Output Amplifier Components are in demand is their rarity. Which mob you loot them from tends to change with Version Updates but it’s a limited list. Most of these mobs are going to be hard to find or higher level.

This is done intentionally to restrict the number of these components. You will soon see why this is important to the in game economy. The one thing you can count on is Mayhem.

Mayhem creatures drop Output Amplifier Components. This is true for each Mayhem event and covers all categories. It doesn’t matter if you compete or not. As long as you are in a Mayhem instance killing mobs you will likely loot this component. The more mobs you kill the more of these components you will loot.

Demand

There is a fair amount of demand for these components. These components are almost exclusively used to craft damage enhancers. In fact the complete list of blueprints that use this component is as follows:

  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 1 Blueprint
  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 2 Blueprint
  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 3 Blueprint
  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 4 Blueprint
  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 5 Blueprint
  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 6 Blueprint
  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 7 Blueprint
  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 8 Blueprint
  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 9 Blueprint
  • Weapon Damage Enhancer 10 Blueprint
  • Weapon Accuracy Enhancer 6 Blueprint

As you can see there is only one exception. Other than the Weapon Accuracy Enhancer 6 Blueprint they are used to make Weapon Damage Enhancers. Not very many people have the skills to craft damage enhancers. The players that do have the skills cause the price to fluctuate greatly. When they want to gamble on crafting the price goes up. If they are crafting to make PED the price goes down.

Circle of Life

This is a great example of the circle of life in Entropia. Output Amplifier Components are used to craft Weapon Damage Enhancers. Weapon Damage Enhancers are used to compete in Mayhem. Looting Mayhem creatures is likely to result in obtaining Output Amplifier Components.

This sis one of the clearest cycles in Entropia. Virtually all resources act in this manner. In this case it’s just easier to see.

We Buy Output Amplifier Components

We buy Output Amplifier Components through out Modified Trade Terminal program. There are times when the prices drop. Since we craft for profit this is when we prefer to buy. We do not gamble on crafting and we don’t get in bidding wars.

One thing that hurts many players is the low TT value of this item. While the mark up is generally good, fees hurt. It’s a rare resource to loot. Players who only have a few can’t justify using the auction system. The fees that are charged when using auction offers or orders easily offset the mark up on small stacks.

Due to this a lot of players will either save them for years or sell privately. Each player has different goals. You have to decide what works best for you.

Pro Tip

Crafting enhancers is very difficult. Few people have the crafting skills needed to pull it off. Attempting to craft damage enhancers without the proper skills will cost you a ton of PED. You will have a lot of failed attempts. This is costly because you will lose both the TT value and the mark up.

If you are wanting to earn PED selling Output Amplifier Components may be one way to do it. You’ll also want to be sure you take advantage of our Offers and Videos. Becoming an EarnPED member is FREE so Register today!

Neurostim, Modified: Competition Hunting

Neurostim Modified

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 04:02 pm

I regularly buy Neurostim, Modified. This is an item many players are not familiar with. Let’s take a quick look at this pill and see what it’s all about. There’s not a lot of information available so I want to shed some light on my favorite in game pill.

The Little Red Pill

Neurostim, Modified is a little red pill in Entropia Universe. You can not buy it from vendors and it is not lootable from mobs. The only way to obtain this item is through Strongboxes. It has been reported to drop from Classified Strongboxes. There have also been reports of it dropping from Summer Mayhem, Halloween Mayhem, Merry Mayhem and Easter Mayhem Strongboxes.

Neurostim Modified
Neurostim Modified

As of this time it is believed to drop from only these five Strongbox types. The drop rate is currently unknown. But it is not the most frequently dropped pill.

Neurostim, Modified Basic Stats

This item has a TT value of 5 PED. It can be looted in PvP lootable areas so it is not advised to take it into space or other PvP lootable locations. This item is stackable. Since it is a Pill you have to consume it. When you do the buffs it provides will effect your avatar for a limited time.

Effects When Consumed:

When consumed you will experience buffs for one hour. You will see an increase in run speed by 35%. Reload speed will increase by 20% and your regeneration by 70%. In addition you will have 20 additional HP.

You will increase the Critical Damage you do by 20%. There will also be a 4% increased chance of delivering a Critical Hit. Overall these are some very impressive stats! Now let’s take a look at when this is actually useful.

Using Neurostim, Modified In Competitions

The only time I use Mod Neuro is during competitions. It doesn’t make sense to use it otherwise. This pill is designed to help you hunt faster than normal. The increased reload speed, critical damage, larger critical chance, even the run speed and health.

All of this is designed to help you kill mobs faster. The problem is that the effects only last an hour. During a competition like Mayhem this can be beneficial. I don’t always use them for my Mayhem runs but have before.

This kind of increased power could also be helpful during player sponsored hunting events. If you have a 1 hour event, largest loot wins, maybe it’s a good idea. Outside of competition it’s simply not worth it.

Why Slower Is Better

Outside of competition hunting this pill can actually hurt you. It’s now a known fact that increased Critical Damage and Critical Chance can lower your returns. This is because your loot returns are directly tied to cost to kill. When you have a larger critical chance or do more critical damage you lower cost to kill. You may be killing mobs faster but your loot returns will definitely suffer.

You can hunt for as long as you want outside of competition. Increased speed can be nice but isn’t needed. There are also cheaper ways to do it. Instead of spending PED on a pill that lasts an hour look at better investments.

The Ares Ring, Improved provides increased reload, critical chance and critical damage. If you really want to hunt faster this is by far the better investment. That’s one reason we offer it for sale through our Inside The Vault program. We even have it in our Ninja Rental Program inventory for players who need it short term.

Conclusions

While there may be competitions that justify the cost this isn’t for everyone. Most players will want to avoid using Mod Neuro do to the cost, short duration of action and lower loot returns. There are also better alternatives available. The Ares Ring, Improved is a much better option. We also offer it for sale through our Inside The Vault Program and for rent through our Ninja Rentals Program.

You may be able to earn some extra PED as we buy Neurostim, Modified for use in competitions. You can also earn PED through our Offers and Videos. Becoming an EarnPED member is FREE so Register today!

Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition

Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 04:00 pm

The Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition is an extremely rare melee weapon. It was only available during the recent FEN event. You had to loot it and it’s one of the most sought after weapons in Entropia Universe. We now have this rare item among our inventory! Let’s take a look at this super weapon and see what we can learn before it’s gone!

Basic Stats

The Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition is a Power Fist Melee weapon. It weighs just 1kg and has a range of 5 meters. The DPS comes in at a whopping 85.5 HP! Damage per use is 67.5 HP with a base attack of 76 attacks per minute! That means the reload speed is just 0.8 seconds!

Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition Stats
Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition Stats

This impressive weapon has an incredible 81.4% efficiency. That’s almost unheard of for a melee weapon! Decay is 1.059 PEC per use. This is a melee weapon but it does use ammo. You can use either Weapon Cells or Universal ammo and it consumes 1305 ammo per use.

The max TT value is 125 PED with a minimum TT value of 3.75 PED before it needs to be repaired. That means there are 11,450 uses between repairs. This makes it an ideal melee weapon for extended hunts.

Other Stats

The Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition does 3.319 HP of damage per PEC. Of the 67.5 HP of damage each use delivers 16.9 HP is Cut and 50.6 HP is Impact. As if that wasn’t enough this weapon even has a SIB, or Skill Increase Bonus!

Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition TT
Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition TT

Since it’s a Melee Weapon it will require a Melee amp if you wish to use an amp. It’s recommended levels are level 60 Brawler (Hit) Profession and level 60 Brawler (Dmg) profession. No matter which metric you look at this is hands down one of the most impressive weapons in the game!

Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition Secrets

The base stats for this weapon are mind blowing. Rightfully so as it was only able to be looted during the Fifteenth Entropia New Year event which concluded in January 2019. It is of the highest rarity with only a few of these weapons existing.

One thing that should be noted is the high base attack rate. This is the perfect weapon to pair with a ring like the Ares Ring Improved or the Ares Ring Modified. Doing so would lower the reload speed and further increase the DPS the weapon is capable of.

You could also pair this weapon with special buff pills. You could use pills such as Devastim 10mg which would further increase the critical damage you could inflict by 40%. No doubt that pairing this incredible weapon with the right rings and pills could result in some serious hunting!

If you want to hunt some of the most serious mobs in Entropia and use a melee weapon to do it you want this weapon! It is only going to get rarer as people refuse to sell. We’ve already seen almost all examples of this weapon removed from the market. Who knows when another example will surface for sale.

Now Available For Rent!

We are super excited! We are now able to offer one of the ONLY Strong Argonaut Claw FEN Edition’s in game for rent! Through our Ninja Rental Program you can rent this amazing weapon without having to make the long term commitment to purchase it!

Ares Ring Modified: When Good Isn’t Enough

Ares Ring, Modified

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 04:00 pm

The Ares Ring Modified is a powerful weapon in Entropia Universe. When used properly it can help you in virtually every aspect of the game. If you read out previous article over the Ares Ring, Improved then you will be even more impressed by the modified version. Let’s take a look at this rare ring and see what we can find out.

The Ares Ring Modified: Basic Stats

Looking at the Ares Ring Modified we can see that the basic stats are similar to that of the Ares Ring Improved. These stats are slightly higher. This is what qualifies this ring for the designation Modified. The modified version has a 10% faster reload speed. It also gives you a 0.8% greater chance of inflicting a Critical Hit. When you do produce a critical hit you do 10% more Critical Damage. These are some VERY impressive buffs!

Ares Ring, Modified Stats
Ares Ring, Modified Stats

Much like the over versions of the Ares this is a right hand ring. It has a max TT value of 10 PED. The minimal TT value is 0.30 PED. Like all rings the Ares Ring, Modified decays 2.000 PEC when you take it off. In game it is considered jewelry, weighs 0.1 kg and is worth 1 item point for storage or shop purposes.

Ares Ring, Modified TT
Ares Ring, Modified TT

This ring is only available in Strongboxes and can not be looted or crafted. In addition the item description contains the statement: “IMPORTANT NOTE: This item currently does not deteriorate while equipped, but may have deterioration implemented in future Version Updates.”.

Modified Reload

The largest advantage the Ares Ring Modified can provide is the 10% faster reload speed. We know that reload speed helps with hunting, mining, sweating and repairing. Having a full 10% faster reload can be extremely valuable and save you a ton of time. Not only can you cycle more PED. You will also be able to gain skills faster. Time is money and this ring will definitely save you time!

If you want to get a job as a healer for hire this is the kind of ring you need. Having a full 10% faster reload will give you a huge advantage. This is the kind of reload speed that is needed to heal small hunting parties. It will also allow you to heal yourself faster. That means you can return to hunting more quickly. It also means you take less damage when healing mid kill. The faster you can heal the better!

If you are mining a 10% faster reload speed can mean less time drilling. Finding big mining claims is great. But you want to extract them quickly so you can find even more claims. This ring will help you do just that. You’ll be able to excavate 10% faster which means you can get back to dropping probes!

Why The Ares Ring Modified Is A Weapon

Much like the other rings of the same family everyone looks at reload speed. This great ring has two other buffs. It increases you chances of a critical hit by 0.8%. In addition you will do 10% more critical damage. These buffs are only useful when hunting. That means that this ring was designed primarily to aid in hunting.

In my eyes if it’s primary focus is hunting that makes it a weapon. This ring modifies three critical aspects of any weapon. While it may have other uses in other categories I believe it should be labeled as a weapon. That’s it’s primary function after all. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look for opportunities to use it. Simply remember that it’s primary function will likely provide the most utility. In any other category you are not getting the full benefits the ring can provide.

How Do You Get An Ares Ring Modified

As with other rings of this family the Ares Ring Modified is only available in Strongboxes. It can not be looted or crafted. The good news is that it has been reported to drop from a variety of Strongboxes. It has been discovered in the Classified Strongboxes that you can get in the Webshop. You actually buy the key to open them and the Classified Strongboxes are included free of charge.

It has also been reported to drop from Easter Strongboxes, Summer Strongboxes, Halloween Strongboxes and Christmas Strongboxes. These event strongboxes are only available during the corresponding Mayhem event and must be looted or purchased from another player.

This ring will have a lower drop rate than the Ares Ring Improved. That means you may be better off buying it from another player or from the auction. It’s not cheap but it’s a great investment for serious players! Not only will it save you time it may help you earn PED!

Now Available For Rent

We manage one of the only rental services in Entropia. The Ares Ring Modified is now available for rent! This means you can save PED if you only need it for a short time and don’t want to purchase it outright! Be sure and check out our Ninja Rentals Program for more information!

Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved

Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 03:59 pm

The Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved is a legendary FAP in Entropia Universe. This Uber rare FAP is both extremely rare and incredibly expensive. While the vast majority of players think they will never have access to one we have a rare opportunity in store for you! Before we make our big reveal let’s take a moment to look at this rare FAP and see what secrets it has waiting for us to discover!

Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved Basic Stats

The Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved has a weight of just 3 kg. It provides heal per use of an incredible 120 HP each time you use it! The effective heal is the same as the heal per use of 120 HP. This FAP is capable of 29 uses per minute with a starting heal interval of 20 HP. It’s reload speed of 2.07 seconds results in a heal rate of 58 HP per second. With a Maximum TT value of 280 PED and a Minimum TT 8.40 PED there are a total of 13,581 use between repairs.

Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved Stats

This incredible decay rate of only 2 PEC means that you can do extremely long runs between repairs. The cost per use is the same as the decay rate at 2.000 PEC per use as the only cost of using the item is the decay incurred. This also means that this FAP provides 60 HP of health per PEC. Impressive stats no matter how you look at it!

Other Important Information:

While this is an Unlimited item that does not have a Skill Increase Bonus (or SIB) you can use it properly at lower levels. The Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved maxes at only Paramedic Profession Level 20.85. This means that players with only an average amount of experience are capable of using this amazing tool to it’s full capacity.

Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved TT
Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved TT

This is an EXTREMELY rare item. It can not be crafted and can only be found in extremely rare Loot. It has been reported to have most recently dropped from a Kretlin on Crystal Palace during EU Version 15.18.1. Prior to this it had not been reported to have dropped since EU Version 6.0. This is a very popular and highly sought after item. It has always been extremely rare to loot. When it is looted it is usually major news. It is unlikely that it has been looted and not reported.

Secrets Of An Uber FAP:

Enhanced Capabilities

It’s easy to see from it’s basic stats why this FAP is so highly sought after. It delivers a massive amount of health per use. The super low decay rate and cost per use make it both economical and practical. The high Maximum TT rate and the low decay rate make it perfect for extremely extended healing marathons. If I ever go on a hunt where we somehow use one FAP 13,581 times someone please make me take a break from the game.

So what is it about the Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved that isn’t immediately obvious? As with most items you can manipulate the overall capabilities by using an item like the Ares Ring, Improved or the Ares Ring, Modified. This would allow you to greatly decrease the reload speed increasing the number of uses per minute this FAP is capable of. Doing so could easily make this FAP usable on some of the most dangerous Mobs in EU. Anyone want to go hunt some Mulciber?

The Perfect Pair

Another hidden secret of the Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved is that there is a weapon that pairs pretty well with it. And it’s another legendary item! The A-3 Justifier Mk. 2, Improved. One of the rarest weapons in Entropia and highly sought after by any serious player. This ultra rare laser rifle has a jaw dropping 90.4% efficiency. The reason it pairs so well with the Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved? The A-3 Justifier Mk. 2, Improved is capable of an astounding 380,393 uses between repairs!

If you were equipped with both this FAP and that gun you could get lost in the wilderness of the most remote regions in the Entropia Universe and you wouldn’t need a repair terminal for a VERY long time. Few people will ever attempt such a journey but having both of these legendary items would at least make it possible. Although I will admit I don’t know how you would manage to carry all that loot!

The Obvious Conclusion

The real desirability of the Omegaton Fast Aid Pack, Improved is obvious from the start. It is super powerful, extremely eco and very rare. The reason it’s rare is because of just how powerful and economical it is. Given this FAP’s basic stats it’s no wonder why it has been so hard to find and has dropped so rarely.

FAP Basics: Healing In Entropia Universe

Fast Aid Pack

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 03:59 pm

Healing is going to be an important part of your journey through the Entropia Universe. Let’s take a moment to go over some of the basics of this game mechanic. We can build on this later in more detail. There’s more to healing than most people realize so we need a good foundational understanding before we get to the advanced stuff. Grab your favorite FAP and let’s get started!

FAP

When you hear players talk about healing they use the term FAP or FAPing. Most players just run with it but it actually stands for something. Fast Aid Pack. Some players will use the real world term First Aid Pack. The in game term is more accurate.

A real world First Aid Pack is what you use when someone has been seriously injured. If you have to use it paramedics are likely on the way. Usually it’s a life threatening situation. This is slightly different than the in game use. In game we simply need a tool capable of healing our minor injury on the fly.

Fast Aid Pack
Fast Aid Pack

This means the more appropriate term for in game healing devices is Fast Aid Pack. They are quick to heal you so you can keep moving along. If you have an in game situation where it’s a life threatening injury from a single blow you would need something capable of saving your life. You would need Divine Intervention.

FAP Vs FAPing

When a player is referring to a healing tool they will call it a FAP. When they refer to using the tool they will call it FAPing. This is an important distinction. All healing devices can be considered a FAP. Some will have the term in the items name. Others will not.

FAPing on the other hand is the use of the tool to provide regenerated health. You could be using the tool on your own avatar or you could be using it to heal someone else. The easiest way to think of it is a FAP is an item so the term is a noun in proper english. FAPing is the action of using the tool and is a verb in proper English.

Healing Yourself

When you are hunting you will regularly take damage. Take too much damage and you will die and then have to revive yourself. Once you’ve revived you will likely not be in the same spot you died. Most of the time you will be some distance away which can make dying while hunting very costly and annoying.

Having the ability to heal yourself with a FAP avoids this. If you are taking damage and it seems you could be killed you will want to do a few things to insure your survival. First you will open your item inventory and find the FAP you wish to use. Next you will equip the FAP. Lastly you will use it to provide regenerated health. Now you can switch back to your weapon of choice and continue your hunt.

The Price Of Healthy Living

Each time you use a FAP you will be spending PED. That cost will be in the form of decay. While there may be some rare exceptions most FAP’s only cost to use is decay cost. This is one reason you want to be sure you hunt within your skill range.

If you are constantly stopping to FAP you are spending a ton of money. If you have the right weapon, you’re hunting a mob in your skill range and you have the right armor you should not have to stop mid kill to heal. When you have to stop mid kill to FAP the mob is still dealing damage forcing you to spend even more PED before you can resume your attack. This is a good sign you are hunting something you are not yet ready to take on.

Famous FAP’s

Like most things in Entropia there is a wide variety of FAP’s. Some of them are cheap and not worth using. Others are unimaginably expensive and rare. Like with most things you will have to have different skills at different levels to be able to properly use different FAP’s.

There are some famous FAP’s that we will take a look at in the coming weeks. These healing devices are often capable of many dozens of uses per minute. Some of them are capable of creating a mouth dropping amount of health per use. Others are simply super eco with very little cost to use.

For now what we really want you to understand is that a FAP is a device capable of helping to heal your avatar. FAPing is the active use of a FAP to regenerate an avatars health. FAP’s come in all shapes, sizes and price ranges. They are an overlooked but basic game mechanic you will become more familiar with as you play.

EWE EP-38 Night Special: A Level 100 Weapon

EWE EP-38 Night Special

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 03:58 pm

The EWE EP-38 Night Special was one of the first weapons I ever purchased. It was a huge mistake. One that a lot of newer players make. There’s a reason I’ve kept it but let’s take a look at this weapon and see what I did wrong. Avoiding the mistakes I made can save you some serious PED.

Basic Stats

EWE EP-38 Night Special Stats
EWE EP-38 Night Special Stats

The EWE EP-38 Night Special is an Unlimited Laser Pistol. This means it can be repaired and used over and over. It has a range of 24.2 meters, weighs 1.6 kg and has a DPS of 31.9. The weapon deals 58 HP of damage comprised of 5 HP penetration and 53 HP Burn. It’s capable of 33 attacks per minute giving it a reload speed of 1.8 seconds.

This weapon burns 800 ammo per shot while decaying 6.1 PEC per shot. With a Maximum TT value of 96 PED and a minimum TT value of 2.88 PED this pistol does 2.854 HP of damage per PEC. The total uses between repairs is 1,527 and it has an efficiency of 55.5% which is considered average. Note minimum TT is not a metric that should be quoted now.

Other Information

Since the EWE EP-38 Night Special is a laser pistol it uses either Weapon Cells or Universal Ammo. It can be equipped with energy amps to increase it’s damage output. This weapon does not have a Skill Increase Bonus, or SIB, and is maxed at profession level 100 Ranged Laser (Dmg) and Laser Pistoleer (Hit).

EWE EP-38 Night Special TT
EWE EP-38 Night Special TT

The EWE EP-38 Night Special is only known to be available if it is found in loot. You can not craft this weapon. It has not been reported to drop recently which means it either drops rarely or drops have not been reported but may happen.

Why The EWE EP-38 Night Special Was A Mistake For Me

Looking through all the information you may be able to spot why I shouldn’t have purchased the EWE EP-38 Night Special. Did you see it? Yup! It’s a weapon that maxes at profession level 100! Like most of the older Unlimited weapons this pistol is no exception. If you are not level 100 you are not going to be able to use it to it’s full capacity.

That mean’s you are going to do fewer attacks per minute than the weapon is capable of. You won’t be able to do the full amount of damage the gun could inflict. Worst of all, you’re using a weapon whose efficiency is average but with which your efficiency is poor. This means missed hits and wasted ammo.

Does this mean the EWE EP-38 Night Special is a bad weapon? Not at all. What it means is that it was a bad weapon for me to purchase when I did not have the proper skills to use it. This is a fact that is true of all weapons in Entropia Universe. I wrote an article about being sure you know if you have the skills to use a weapon. This is something I feel will save a lot of players a lot of money. It’s also something I wish I had when I first started playing Entropia.

Why I Still Have The EWE EP-38 Night Special

Why did I keep this gun knowing I can’t currently use it? Because someday I will be able to. I will eventually reach level 100 in the professions needed to use this pistol. When I do there will be times when it may be the superior weapon. I simply purchased the right gun at the wrong time. This is something that I see happen a lot and I hope you can learn from my mistake. There is a tool for every job. There is also a proper time to use that tool and an improper time when you should use a different tool.

Now Available For Rent

Armor Plating Mk. 6A: Perfect Drone Protection Part 2

Armor Plating Mk. 6A

This post was last updated on June 19th, 2022 at 03:58 pm

Earlier today we looked at a set of Vigilante Armor. This armor is considered almost perfect for hunting Drones. But we don’t want almost perfect. If you are going to be the best there ever was you have to have nothing less than perfect. That’s where the Armor Plating Mk. 6A comes into play!

What Is Armor Plating?

Armor plates can be added to any set of armor to increase the protection provided. Different plates provide different protections. This comes in handy if you have armor that protects well from a certain mob but maybe not perfectly. Today we will look specifically at the Armor Plating Mk. 6A. This particular armor plate pairs well with Vigilante Armor for almost perfect protection from Drones.

Armor Plate Mk. 6A

When we look at this particular plate we can see that it has a weight of 0.4 kg. It provides 11 HP of protection from Penetration attacks and 12 HP of penetration from Burn attacks for a total of 23 HP of protection. This plate has a durability of 1400 and the Maximum TT value is 25 PED.

Armor Plating Mk. 6A Stats
Armor Plating Mk. 6A Stats

This is a crafted item It is crafted from the Armor Plating Mk. 6A Blueprint. You can often find these for sale on auction or from other players in private trades. A complete set is considered 7 units. You can only equip one plate per armor piece. Since the average armor is a 7 piece set it makes sense that you would need 7 plates.

Why Players Love This Plate

While the item details are not impressive or something that needs in depth analyzation this is a popular plate. The reason for this is how well it pairs with the Vigilante Armor set. There are other sets that it can be used on. Technically it can be used on any armor set. If you have armor that doesn’t protect from Penetration and Burn then this may very well be the plate you want to use.

This plate also has the ability to be upgraded to an Adjusted version through a mission chain and combining different items. We will likely explore this mission and the Adjusted version in a future post. For now the thing we want you to keep in mind is that the Armor Plate Mk. 6A provides just the right protection to pair almost perfectly with the Vigilante Armor set making it the perfect defense against Drone attacks.

Now Available For Rent

Buying a complete set of plates can be expensive. Especially when you have to purchase the armor to go with it. Now we have a full set of Armor Plate Mk. 6A available for rent through our Ninja Rental Program! We also have a male UL Vigilante Armor Set for rent that will pair with it perfectly. If you are looking to complete some Drone missions but don’t want to tie your PED up long term our rental program may be the ideal solution!
